| Barford CC | 10th of July 2026 (Friday) | 6pm | Away | Won |
Won by 12 runs
A four hour minibus journey with several crates of beer, two pitstops for more beer, a 6pm start time in Warwick, a stiflingly hot day / afternoon, may not have been in the ECB coaching manual for how to prepare for a game; but it seemed to work on Friday.
It wasn't the best of starts, Jeff out in the first over for 0, James out in the third over for 1 and Will in the 4th over for 1, had us 3-3. Josh and Tim L didn't last much longer and our hosts generously realised that they probably needed to bring on some of their lesser bowlers to give us a chance of posting a score. So with E. Xtras settling in for a big knock (24) and O Cooke, O Atkinson, A de Lotbiniere reaching double figures EMCC were able to scrape their way to 93 all out in the 14th over.
Whether it was the cooling of the evening or the beer evaporating, the second half of the game seemed to see us wake up and suddenly look (more) like a cricket team. Everyone bowled well, fielded better and for the only time in the weekend took their catches. Wickets were shared around with two each for Jeff & Andrew, and in the 19th over Barford were all out for 81 and much to everyone's surprise EMCC had won.
Dave Rees - 2-0-3-0 the most economical of our economical bowlers.
A night at Ronnie's in Warwick followed and tour was off to a winning start.
