Frome Incidentals 147 all out. East Meon won by 10 runs.
We welcomed a stand in team to the Rec, a mature wandering side who had been touring the Isle of Wight. East Meon batted first. Ollie and Ed Rafferty strode to the crease. Ed soon returned bowled for 0. This meant James our skipper for the day returning from injury joined his brother. However, without being troubled making a cut shot he again damaged his shoulder and had to retire injured on 7 no out. Ollie and David Blackburn upped the scoring , nice shots reaching all sides of the ground. Sadly Ollie hit a ?high? full toss which was well caught in front of the pavilion for 38. Josh Haslett joined David but a comedy of errors ensued David edged to the infield and proceeded to watch the ball fall to safety then realised that Josh had joined him at his end. Josh run out for 0 enough said! David set forth to make amends along with Mooro and Stiko. The score was pushed to 89 for 6. Mooro was out for 7 edging vertically nearly into outer space. Stiko fell for 3 meanwhile David had batted well scoring 34 before being beautifully caught low down on the bottom boundary.
A mini revival then occurred David Rees and George A pushed the score up to a degree of respectability. George managed 25 and David 14 both falling to Keane their opening bowler. Tim Lawrence filling in for Lakh who was stuck in traffic fell cheaply. Wayne scored his highest amount for the village (8) being comically run out trying to crab like make his ground.
After tea the opposition reversed their batting order. George got 2 for 10 off 5. Wayne yorked their opener and then got their useful number 5 to a controversial LBW. Josh bowled another and Stiko picked up 2 more, one a beautiful moving ball clipping off stump. 95 for 7. Surely a victory for the Meon, but the tail wagged! David B who had bowled at a ferocious pace early on returned to make amends for a drop in the deep and bowled their number 9. Aussie Tim lured their last man to a good catch at the midwicket boundary by Ollie.
As Brucie would have said Good Game Good Game!
