Full Match Report

A cold northerly wind dominated the weather chat on Sunday. With the sun out it was pleasant but each time a cloud came it turned the Rec into the Artic. Never have I seen so many players huddle in the pavilion all game.
Will one the toss and chose to bat on another road. The outfield was quick and now very flat after a 5 tonne roller had been used mid week. Oliver strolled out with Ali to get us off to a start. They did just that. 38-0, a good platform. And that is when it happened, Ali got off the mark! I feel the pressure was then off him as he started to play more freely. Boundaries flowed and with the score reaching 74 before Ali was bowled was a cracking start.
James joined Oliver and the rate continued. With Oliver reaching 45 before scooping one to mid wicket. Will joined James and much the same happened. The pitch played well, no chances were given and our score grew nicely. Will and James both reached 50 and retired giving Andrew, Hollis and Tim a chance to spread their wings and they did just that adding 50 runs in the last half hour. 220 on the dot.

Tea was exceptional and good to have those millionaire shortbreads back. Sticko and Josh opened the bowling. Unlike last week, the bowling was tight and accurate and noose was tied onto Clanfield top(reversed) batting order. Josh claimed 3 wickets in a great spell of metronomic bowling in 8 overs including 5 maidens. Sticko was less lucky with wickets but supported nicely. Wayne and Tim joined the bowling with more good accurate bowling but no luck in terms of wickets. There were few chances but the pitch was just too good for batting. We got a good run out, a throw in from Oliver at the base of the stumps and Mooro gathered, kind of. Smashing his glove and then onto the stumps. He is a lucky boy.
With 6 wickets down ?Bradders? came in and the opposition batting got better. It is a shame they had reversed the order. By now the game had gone for them and although they enjoyed some big boundary blows, a draw was inevitable for both sides. Their score ending on 152.
A good game with 22 great guys.
